The history of SEO began in the early 1990s. In the early days of SEO search engines were simple and relied heavily on basic factors like keywords and meta tags. Websites would stuff these keywords into their content, hoping to rank higher in search results.

What is keyword stuffing?

Keyword stuffing is the practice of overloading a webpage with too many keywords in an unnatural way to try to rank higher in search engines. It often makes the content hard to read and is now penalized by search engines like Google. After keyword stuffing became a common tactic, Google made several changes to its algorithm to improve the quality of search results and prevent manipulation. This unethical act is also known as the black hat SEO Technique.

In the early days, Google was very concerned about the content and was niche-specific about it, so it crawled the pages very carefully. The quality of the content is very mandatory also they ranked the pages according to the keywords used in the content and this scenario led to keyword stuffing. Websites with poor or spammy content were ranking higher, while high-quality pages were sometimes buried in the search results. After this, they updated or changed the algorithm to link-specific which works like the websites that receive more links from any other websites will be ranked accordingly. Each link will (hyperlink) be considered as a recommendation vote. So each and every page or content will be precisely noted or crawled by the search engine

Crawling is also known as a robot. It scans a new or updated page and saves it into the database according to categories. This saving action is called caching. The scanning process is known as a spider. The retrieving action is called indexing. These are the three steps of crawling.

By the early 2000s, Google improved its online advertising strategies by launching Google Ads, reflecting the evolution of digital advertising and Google's dominance in the online advertising space. Initially, it was called Google AdWords, but later it was rebranded to Google Ads. They followed a particular method like pay-per-click (PPC) Is an online advertising model where advertisers pay a fee each time their ad is clicked. Essentially, it’s a way of buying visits to a website, rather than earning them organically through search engine optimization (SEO).

Later, Google introduced a new scheme that helps website owners (publishers) earn money by displaying ads on their websites. The ads are provided by Google, and revenue is generated when users interact with these ads. This program is known as Google AdSense.
